Cayman Islands women’s high jump record holder Ashleigh Nalty has transferred to the University of Akron.
The Ohio program enters the season ranked 20th in the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association National Collegiate Athletic Association Division I women’s poll. Nalty, who was previously at Southern Missouri Baptist University, is expected to have a partial scholarship and has two years of college eligibility remaining.
Nalty, whose personal best is 1.75 meters, competed for Cayman this summer at the XX Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland. There she finished 11th with a leap of 1.71m – her best mark of the season.
