Ronaldinho moves on

Former Brazil international Ronaldinho has signed for Mexican top-flight club Queretaro, according to a report by BBC Sport.

The 2002 World Cup winner, who left Brazilian side Atletico Mineiro in July, has signed a two-year deal.

“I chose Mexico for the affection I have always received here. I am very motivated to represent Queretaro,” Ronaldinho, 34, said on Twitter.

English Conference South side Basingstoke Town had said they had also made an offer to Ronaldinho, who won 97 caps for Brazil.

Queretaro were almost thrown out of the Mexico League last year following a corruption scandal involving the club’s former owner.

They are currently eighth, the final play-off place, in the Liga MX 2014 Apertura tournament after seven games of Mexico’s domestic summer season.
