Triple Crown have the look of champs

The local dart league is nearing the end of its season and still boasts an undefeated team.

Week 23 of the Cable and Wireless Dart League recently went off without a hitch at the Corner Pocket. The Triple Crown team was in top form as they notched another victory.

Triple Crown remains undefeated through 23 games. The squad have 46 points and are 6 points clear of the Corner Pocket Regulars. A tight battle for third is ongoing as three teams are within two points of each other.

The 24th and final round of the league will take place at the end of the month. The public can expect lots of intrigue in that round. Triple Crown will look to secure a league title while CP Regulars, The Crew, Fidels I and Bistro I will fight for second and third.

The local league does not have a playoff system. Teams are competing for prizes and trophies awarded to the top squads. The prizes will be given at the awards ceremony and AGM held later in the year.

Hank Ebanks of The Crew and Earl Smith of the CP Regulars continue to pace the field. Ebanks leads the league in tons (or 100 point games) with 60. Smith has the most perfect scores (known as 180s) with 10. Also, Rene continues to have the highest individual score with 152.

Philip Parsons, Vice President of the Cayman Islands Dart Association, says the league has been very competitive.

‘As the stats show, teams have been performing at a high level. If you go by the stats alone then Triple Crown is just about running away with things.

‘But I think the four teams immediately below them have a shot to put a loss on their record.’

Parsons went on to say in spite of Triple Crown’s record, teams have a decent chance of blemishing their record.

‘Triple Crown is a strong team. But teams are still going to fight to prevent their perfect season.

‘They’re basically the New England Patriots of Cayman darts. However, as the Super Bowl shows, you never really know who’s going to win it all.’
