(Jamaica Observer) Usain Bolt is ready to get back to training several weeks of celebrating his and Jamaica’s success at the recent Beijing Olympic Games.
The triple Olympic medallist set world records in the 100 metres (9.69 seconds) and 200m (19.30 secs) and was part of the 100m relay team that also set the new world record (37.10 secs).
He said the constant appearances and flying back and forth to the United States to fulfil obligations were wearing him down.
Bolt, who along with Olympic teammate Marvin Anderson, was special guests at their Alma Mater William Knibb Memorial in Trelawny, said: ‘Yes, I am looking forward to getting back into training because the past few weeks have been kinda stressful.’
He said the structure of training and resting will force him ‘to stay home and not be flying all over the place and doing all kinds of things, I am looking forward to that’. He is looking forward to working again with coach Glenn Mills.
Bolt, 22, appeared on several American television shows, including Late Night with David Letterman and Good Morning America. He said: ‘The constant flying everywhere and things have been very hectic and I am looking forward to the structure of training.’
He added he did not get too much rest since returning home after the Olympics and taking part in events on the Grand Prix Circuit.
Bolt said he tried to get some time of his own during the celebrations, ‘because I need to have my own life as well and try to enjoy myself, but I know that once I get back on the track everything will be okay’.
When asked how he would top the achievements in Beijing at next year’s IAAF World Championships in Berlin, Germany, Bolt, to the upcoming season, he said he always wants to perform at my best, but said he would not want to make any predictions.
