Attorney Ian Jamieson was admitted to practise in the Cayman Islands on 21 October, when his credentials were placed before Justice Charles Quin in a Grand Court ceremony.
Solomon Harris partner Laura Hatfield moved his admission.

In 2001, Mr. Jamieson moved to the British Virgin Islands after being approached by Smith-Hughes Raworth and McKenzie, which later became Maples and Calder BVI, to work in the areas of banking and corporate law. He also headed the Maples property department in the BVI.
Mr. Jamieson returned to the UK in 2006 when he was approached by and worked for Eversheds LLP in Newcastle, having acted for them whilst in the BVI. He spent two years in their corporate and commercial property team dealing with a wide selection of real estate and related corporate matters. He was also the designated first point of contact for Caribbean corporate advice.
Solomon Harris managing partner Sophia Harris said ‘We are pleased that Ian has joined our firm as the new head of the Property and Banking/Finance Department and as part of our Corporate/Commercial team. We feel confident that he brings a wealth of experience both onshore and offshore that makes him an excellent fit in our firm.’
Mr. Jamieson said ‘I am delighted to be given the opportunity to work with a progressive firm with a highly impressive reputation on Island. I am keen to expand both my experience of offshore legal work as well as augment the already excellent reputation of the property and banking finance teams here at Solomon Harris.
‘I am looking forward immensely to making my home here in the spectacular Cayman Islands for many years to come.’
