In years gone by when Thora Crighton, Desiree Hunter, Carol Ann Balls were crowned Miss Cayman Islands in the 1980s, there was a beauty contest held every year to send an ambassador to represent the Cayman Islands in the prestigious Miss Universe and the Miss World pageants.
Its now the month of March 2007 and I have not seen or heard of any local media update on the Miss Cayman Islands Pageant.
The current committee has shown a lot of interest and has prepared and produced excellent pageants, so I am encouraging the committee to keep up the good work.
Cayman has some of the most beautiful and intelligent girls that can and would represent these islands overseas as we have seen.
In the past I remember weeks before the Miss Universe Pageant a Miss Cayman Islands pageant was held with only three local contestants and a winner was chosen.
So it possible that the committee can let the public know what is happening?
Update: The Miss Universe 2007 Pageant is being held in Cancun, Mexico, on 27 May.
It would be beneficial to the Cayman Islands tourism sector to have a contestant participate in the Miss Universe 2007 Pageant and who knows, this may even be our year to bring home the coveted Miss Universe crown.
