Thanks to the Cayman Cat Boat Club, I and a few friends had a unique and particularly Caymanian experience.
Captain Ken Jackson and his crew Philip Parchment and Roy Bush escorted us in a traditional cat boat off the coast of the North Sound.
Once our exclamations of excitement and awe tapered off, we were surprised to learn how silent the cat boat skimmed through the water; the better to sneak up on an unsuspecting turtle, although those days are gone.
We were so impressed by the Cayman Cat Boat Club and its dream to resurrect the proud history of cat boats.
Our Sunday afternoon sail was a wonderful introduction to an integral element of Caymanian culture.
We hope Captain Ken and his crew continue to receive the support they need so that other visitors like us will have the pleasure of learning about the Cayman Islands in this special way.
