Cruise trade steady, slowing

Although the cruise trade may be slackening pace a little toward slow summer season, there is a regular schedule of ships arriving over the next two months.

The highest number of ships scheduled on any day of the month may have fallen from the six, seven or even eight over recent months to four or five, but passengers will still be spilling into George Town in their thousands on a regular schedule.

For May the largest number of ships coming in is on 5 and 19 of the month, with five ships on both. In June, the highest number of ships on any day drops to four; this number of ships making regular visits on various days throughout that month.

Over a quarter of a million people could spill into George Town over the next couple of months if ships scheduled to arrive are at full capacity: 140,206 for May and a lower 125,747 for June.
