There was no shortage of hugs, kisses and even tears of joy for owners of the Book Nook store recently hosting a reopening party.
From the huge attendance at the Galleria location, it was evident that this store was appreciated, loved and missed.
Shuttered after major damage from hurricane Ivan, customers cashed in on the latest books, arts, crafts, toys and games.
‘It was unbelievable the huge response we received,’ said co-owner Barbara Levy. ‘All day long people were just pouring in congratulating us and voicing their joy at the re-opening of the store.
‘My heart just went out to all the people. I cried when comments were made on how much we were missed. The reception was just overwhelming
‘One customer said she knew how hard we had worked to get the store running. Another said, ‘it means so much to us that you have reopened.’ One even called from England to make sure we were alright through Wilma.
‘We have all the bestsellers and children’s books, arts and crafts and back in the store.’
A big thing that is new to the store is scrap booking. Sometime in the future the owners said they are hoping to offer scrap booking classes to the public.
‘We still have the preschool sections, and lots of other things for older children to come in and enjoy any time of the day.
‘We put a lot of love into the store but what is more important is that people love us and they missed us.
‘What I missed most of all when the store was open was all the children coming in on Saturdays.
Ms Levy said nothing much has changed at the store they still offer excellent service and orders take about a week unless they are bracing for a hurricane.
‘Even the birds were missed. I told them that we would be bringing them back soon.’
In the Galleria Plaza for the past 12 years, the store is open Monday to Saturday from 9am to 6pm.
