Sunday league kicks off

Social football on Sunday mornings is set to resume.

The Heineken Sunday Football League makes a welcome return to action this Sunday, 2 October after a summer of inactivity. Defending champions Agua FC, who also won the CML Cup on the last day of last season to claim the coveted double, will be the team to defeat this time round.

Two new teams will be making their debut in the league, Triple Crown Wanders and Her Majesty’s Prison Northward prison guards. These two will be joining the established sides of Boca Juniors, CML Claymores, MC Devils, Old Boys FC, Harry’s Heineken All-Stars and of course champions Agua FC which make up the eight competing sides.

Each squad will play each other three times this term with the league due to finish on Sunday, 29 April, 2012. The teams will once again compete for the CML Cup, the knockout cup competition for the Sunday League teams, with the final due to be played on 6 May, 2012 which will bring the curtain down on the season.

Also up for grabs is the Golden Boot trophy for the league’s top goal scorer, which was won last season by Mike Ebanks of Boca Juniors who smashed a fantastic 24 goals in just twenty league games.
