The waiting room at the Cayman Islands Hospital in George Town is getting a face lift.
A new 37-inch flat-screen television will be installed to make waiting times more palatable and a small activity area for children will be added, according to hospital officials.
The face lift is being paid for, in part, by a $2,500 donation from the British American Financial to the Optimist Club of George Town’s community project.
British American Financial’s Group Health Manager Vernice West presented the cheque to Optimist Club President Fred Dallas at the hospital recently.
Other changes to the waiting area include replacing chairs, adding plants and a shelving unit for magazines and books. They also are repainting the area, updating artwork and incorporating a new coffee table.
“We believe the proposed changes will provide a more comfortable atmosphere and waiting area. We are very pleased to have obtained sponsorship from British American Financial to help us with this project,” Mr. Dallas said. “Upgrading the waiting area will help to improve the experience for patients and staff.”
The furniture is being supplied by Lee’s Office, while A.L. Thompson’s is providing the television at cost, Mr. Dallas said.
