Cats and kittens will be the theme for Craft and Story Time at Books and Books on Saturday 11th June. A different theme is chosen by the bookshop staff each week, with readings of children’s stories, singalongs and crafts all picked to fit in with the theme.
This Saturday children will be hearing the stories of Splat the Cat by Rob Scotton and Three Little Kittens by Jerry Pinkney. Following the readings they will create their own kitten masks which they can then take home with them. All the materials are provided by Books and Books.
Children from age two and up are welcome at the story-telling sessions, although the craft-making is a little more advanced and best suited to the four to seven year old age group.
Story-time is always well attended and gives both parents and children a chance to meet new friends. Story time is also held on Wednesday mornings, but there is no craft-making at the mid-week meeting. On the first and third Wednesday of the month however, story time is preceded by 10 minutes with Dr. James, when the paediatrician from TrinCay Medical Services talks to parents about medical issues that may affect children.
Story time begins at 10.30am on Saturdays and lasts 30-45 minutes depending on the craft.
