Updated: 5pm, 18 April: A cyclist who was knocked down outside Rubis gas station on Shamrock Road in Savannah has been released from hospital after being treated for non-life-threatening injuries, according to police.
The accident occurred shortly after 10:30am Saturday, near the junction with Pedro St. James Road.
“The collision took place when a cyclist was travelling towards George Town along Shamrock Road when a black Kia Optima that was exiting the gas station in the area, pulled onto the roadway and struck the cyclist,” police said in a statement.
An ambulance attended the scene and assisted the cyclist who had “visible injuries”, a police spokesperson said.
The male cyclist was transported to the Cayman Islands Hospital and treated for non-life-threatening injuries and later released. No other injuries were reported as a result of this incident.
The matter is being investigated by the police.
