An internal investigation has been launched at John Gray High School into a brawl involving a group of students this week, the Department of Education Services confirmed Thursday afternoon.
DES, in the statement, expressed its concern regarding the contents of a video shared on social media earlier this week depicting the violent physical altercation among the group of students.
The video of the clash on the George Town school’s compound has been making the rounds on social media.
DES Director Mark Ray, through a statement, denounced the incident.
“We are committed to maintaining a safe and harmonious school environment for all our students and will not tolerate negative behaviours such as fighting and bullying in our schools,” he said.
The school, the statement said, has launched the investigation into the incident and will implement the prescribed protocols for addressing the identified issues.
“The school will also provide the students involved with the requisite guidance and support that they may need at this time to prevent a reoccurrence of any similar situation,” Ray added.
We have reached out to police for comment on the incident, we are awaiting a response.
