Piano recital features new wave of talent

Johann Uy is one of the young students who will be performing on Thursday night.

The Cayman Arts Festival is well known for nurturing young musical talent, and this Thursday, 2 Dec., some new faces will be featured at its piano recital, being held at St. George’s Anglican Church from 6-7pm.

Chesskamea Daniels, Charles Henderson, Hadassah Blake, Johann Uy, and Adelaide Walton will be taking centre stage on the evening, performing works by Ludwig van Beethoven, Sergei Rachmaninoff, Aaron Zigman, Zdenek Fibich, Johann Pachelbel, Joe Hisaishi, Mark Lowry, Buddy Greene, Phillip Lane,  Ludvig Schytte and more.

Chesskamea Daniels plays piano at a CAF ‘Music at the Library’ evening.

The CAF relies on events such as this to raise funds for its programmes, which focus on giving students the opportunity to study music here and abroad. It has also brought many acclaimed musicians to these shores, including Elizabeth Pitcairn and her famous Red Violin; cellist Sheku Kanneh-Mason; and previous Official Harpist to the Prince of Wales, Catrin Finch.

See the CAF documentary ‘2020: A Retrospective’ here.

Tickets for the piano recital are $20 for adults and $5 for students. There are only 90 seats available. For more information and to purchase tickets, email enquiries@caymanartsfestival.com or call 922-5550.
