Boarding Schools Fair Cayman Islands – Boarding school opportunities in the UK & Canada

The 7th Annual Boarding Schools Fair returns to the Westin on Sunday 30 October

For the seventh year, Boarding schools from the UK & Canada return to Cayman this week for the annual Boarding Schools Fair Cayman Islands, which takes place in the Governor’s Ballroom, at the Westin Grand Cayman, on Sunday 30 October.

As well as sharing a new King, Britain and Canada also share the heritage of having world class boarding schools. Like the institution of Monarchy, many of these schools are centuries old and have peculiar traditions, but they have also adapted to the fast pace of the changing world, and continute to be at the forefront of global education: their academic excellence, extra-curricular opportunities and pastoral care are second to none.

A boarding school education offers unrivalled opportunities – inside and outside the classroom – but each school offers something quite unique and it is hoped that the fair will help Cayman parents find the ‘right fit’ for their children.

Admissions staff from 20 schools, from across Canada and Britain, will be at the fair and look forward to meeting Cayman families who might be interested in a boarding school education.

The schools at the fair have opportunities for ALL Cayman students: many are traditional full boarding schools for students aged 13-18; prep schools, for children aged 10-13, are an option for parents who might like their children to be prepared for top senior schools.  Especially attractive for many Cayman families will be UK State Boarding Schools, which enable a British passport holder to go to boarding school at a fraction of the cost – around £15,000 per year.

Jonny Hammond-Chambers, Registrar of Oundle School, says ‘I’m really looking forward to visiting Cayman.  We’ve had the privilege of welcoming Cayman pupils to the school for several years and have always been impressed at how fantastically well they’ve settled into school life.’

Tracey Colp, Senior Enrollment Manager at Albert College, Ontario, agrees: ‘Of course our international families were understandably anxious about their children travelling to school, but the vast majority of them have rightly decided that boarding school is actually the best and safest place for them right now.  We are very proud that we are able to offer them just the pastoral support they need.’

Cerys Bartley, of Hocekerill Anglo-European College (a State Boarding School), is keen to remind Cayman parents that affordable options are open to all families: ‘As a State Boarding School, we can offer Cayman families all the opportunities of a great boarding school education, but at a fraction of the cost.’

The Boarding Schools Fair is designed to showcase the CHOICE available to Caymanians.

The Boarding Schools Fair Cayman Islands takes place at the Westin Grand Cayman on Sunday 30 October, from 9 am-2 pm.  Entry is free.
