
HIGHVERN acquires Genesis Trust
The HIGHVERN group has expanded into the Cayman Islands with the acquisition of private capital and funds governance service provider Genesis Trust & Corporate Services Ltd.
Genesis managing director Roger Priaulx and director Paul Drake remain with the business. Priaulx has also joined HIGHVERN’s executive committee.
“HIGHVERN is clearly the optimal acquirer for the scale and nature of our business, and we are already seeing opportunities that being part of such a well-regarded international group brings for both our clients and our colleagues,” Priaulx said in a press release.
Following the acquisition, private wealth, funds and corporate services provider HIGHVERN has more than 100 employees in Jersey, Guernsey, Ireland, Switzerland, the UK and Cayman.
Martin Hall, HIGHVERN chief executive, said, “We are delighted to welcome all our new colleagues in Cayman with whom we have already developed a close working relationship; we are looking forward to supporting them with growing the business in Cayman and making it a fully integrated part of the Highvern group.”
Naomi Rive, group head of private wealth at HIGHVERN, has joined the Cayman board.
Ebanks elected to board of Caribbean Association of Banks

Tracy Ebanks, general manager of the Cayman Islands Development Bank, is one of two first-time directors on the board of the Caribbean Association of Banks.
She was elected to serve as a director for the Northern Caribbean, while Tanya Watson-Francis, general manager, treasury and correspondent banking division at National Commercial Bank Jamaica Ltd., was also voted director for the Northern Caribbean.
Lisa Kow is the new chair of the industry body for banks in the Caribbean.
The managing director of Jamaica’s JN Bank was elected unopposed during the association’s 49th Annual General Meeting held on Wednesday, 26 Oct. at the Harbor Club Resort in Saint Lucia.
She replaces Dalton Lee, founder and chairperson of the Bank of Montserrat, who served two terms as chair of CAB.
Lee will continue to serve as director for the Eastern Caribbean and Barbados.
Senior promotions at Carey Olsen
Carey Olsen has announced six senior promotions in its Cayman Islands office. In the firm’s corporate team, Shane Westin and Jenna Willis have been promoted to counsel while Emily Cornhill and Trevor McCabe have been promoted to senior associate. Within the dispute resolution and litigation team, Jasmin Davies and Nigel Smith have also been made senior associate.
Appleby advises Endurance business combination with Satixfy
Appleby has acted as legal counsel to Endurance Acquisition Corp., a NASDAQ-traded special purpose acquisition company (SPAC) on its business combination with SatixFy Communications Ltd., an Israeli vertically integrated fabless semiconductor chip company and producer of satellite communication systems.
The combined company retained the SatixFy name, and its shares and warrants began trading on the New York Stock Exchange on 28 Oct. 2022 under the symbols ‘SATX’ and ‘SATXW’, respectively.
Appleby earlier advised Endurance, a SPAC founded by Antarctica Capital to focus on space-based tech businesses, on its US$200 million SPAC IPO on NASDAQ which closed in September 2021.
