Musicians Ltd School of Music and Performing Arts will be bringing its 15th annual production to the Harquail Theatre this weekend when its young cast presents Oliver! JR.
In preparation for the performance, 44 talented students from public and private schools across Cayman have been working tirelessly since September to bring Oliver Twist, the Artful Dodger and the rest of Fagin’s pickpocketing gang to the stage.
The Broadway junior adaptation of Lionel Bart’s classic musical based on Charles Dickens’ novel, ‘Oliver Twist’, brings together empowering messages of bravery, selflessness, honesty and sympathy.

And, organisers say, “Hopefully, by the end of our production you might feel so inclined to pick up your dance shoes and start singing ‘Consider Yourself’.”
As well as that number, the show will also feature such classics as ‘Food Glorious Food’ and ‘Got to Pick a Pocket or Two’.
This timeless coming-of-age story of a boy who dared to ask for more promises a musical adventure through the underworld of Victorian London.

Oliver is being played by Analia Langlois, who is one of four Cayman Arts Trust recipients involved in the show.
Since this is a junior production, running time including intermission is 1 hour 30 minutes, and the show is therefore suitable for all ages.
Part of the proceeds from the show will go to the Cayman Arts Trust, an initiative providing free instrumental and performing arts lessons to government schools.
This non-profit organisation is holding two free music immersion camps this July at the Musicians Ltd Studio. The camps are open to all government-school students ages 6–13. No experience is necessary – students just need to have an interest in music and drama to participate. For more information, contact [email protected].
