Staying active in the ring, all while remaining undefeated, amateur boxer Christopher Hurlston continues to build on his reputation.

Hurlston, whose nickname is ‘The 345 Viking’, agreed to a short-notice fight in Northampton on Sunday, 17 Sept., against Harry Nicolls, in which he won via split decision – coming back after losing the first round on the judge’s scorecards.

“Got another win tonight,” Hurlston told the Compass. “I came back and gave him two standing counts and won via decision. [I] was an inch away from the knockout.”

Hurlston, who trains and fights in England under Henry’s Gym, was scheduled to box on Thursday, 14 Sept., but after his opponent pulled out, he settled for a short-notice bout three days later against Nicolls, who came in 55 pounds heavier than Hurlston.

Hurlston got off to a slow start, ultimately causing him to lose the first round.

However, the tables would turn for the Caymanian power puncher who took it up a notch after extra motivation from coach Ron Hopley, and went on to win the next two rounds, earning standing counts.

It was enough to give the 345 Viking the victory – improving his record to 4-0 and marking his second win in just 10 days.
