American country music singer/songwriter Ryan Griffin is set to perform under the stars at the second annual Mike Flowers Memorial Chili Cook-Off, to be held at the Compass Green, on Saturday, 9 March, from 12pm to 7pm.
The cook-off, sponsored by the Moore Team at Coldwell Banker, showcases the best chili recipes from local cooks, chefs, and culinary enthusiasts, with visitors getting to taste the various creations and a best-chili winner crowned. The day also features a range of family-friendly activities and entertainment, and provides a platform for local country musicians to perform live.
Griffin grew up on a farm where he said he learned the value of hard work, while developing a passion for country music. At age 17, he took his talent to Nashville and hit the ground running. From co-writing Kelsey Ballerini’s hit song, ‘Dibs’, to opening for major acts like Lady A and Old Dominion, Griffin has paved the way for his own music story.
With millions of streams under his belt, he has garnered critical attention as one of Rolling Stone’s ’10 New Country Artists You Need to Know’, and has been highlighted on lists of ‘ones to watch’ from AOL, AXS, Country Fancast, NY Country Swag, PopDust and Thought Catalog. As Red Street Country’s flagship artist, Griffin’s current single ‘Heart to Break’ is grabbing attention around the world as the leading track from his 2023 EP ‘Phases’.
“You have no idea how much I need some saltwater in my life right now,” said Griffin, on coming to perform in Cayman, during a recent phone interview on the Cayman Country Rooster 101 radio show. “I’m really excited.”
Griffin said his two-hour performance at the cook-off will “possibly be the longest show we’ve played in our life”.
He added, “We’re playing everything from ’90s country to a couple of rock songs, a ton of my stuff, some new music that we’ve actually never played out before, that I just got out of the studio.”
Before Griffin’s musical finale at 7pm, attendees can also enjoy some foot-stomping country music throughout the day by local performers including Melody Copley-Knox, Seaford Russell Jr, and the Sandkickers band.
Tickets are available online for Ryan Griffin at $49 for general and $99 for VIP, with kids under 8 free.
Chili Cook-Off tickets will be sold at the gate for $10.
