Police say they have turned their attention from a suspect they named on Friday to a different man in connection with the seizure of a drug boat on Cayman Brac.
The Royal Cayman Islands Police said they are now searching for Shavan Claude Brown.
On Friday, police issued an advisory asking the public to help them locate Xavier Watson in connection with the seizure. On Sunday, the RCIPS said Watson was no longer wanted in relation to this investigation.
“Progress in investigations over the weekend, including further information and sightings from the community, has resulted in police shifting their search efforts to a different man, Shavan Claude Brown, who is wanted in relation to the drug boat seizure in the Brac,” police said in a statement on Sunday morning.
They are advising the public, if they see Brown, not to approach him, but to call 911 immediately.
The search for the wanted man began on Thursday, after a drug boat landed on the South Side area of Cayman Brac. Two other men were arrested, but the third, now thought to be Brown, evaded capture and is on the run.
Police continue to have armed officers from Grand Cayman present on the Brac, actively looking Brown, along with support from Customs and Border Control and the Department of Environment.
