The Fair Weather Foundation

The Fair Weather Foundation was founded by Christopher Rowland and Paul Deegan in 2023.

As a Cayman not for profit organisation, the Fair Weather Foundation’s main goal, is to save one of the last tangible links to Cayman’s maritime heritage, by preserving Fair Weather, the last Caymanian built wooden sailing schooner still floating in the world, and to use Fair Weather as a floating educational classroom, to teach all our school children and Cayman residents, about Caymans rich seafaring and ship building history.

Currently, Fair Weather is being restored at the boatyard of T. Nielsen & Co., in Gloucester in the UK.

As part of our fund raising initiatives, we are offering a ‘Buy a Plank/Five Year Corporate/Family Membership‘ package for CI$1000 for up to 2000 members. Payable in one lump sum of CI$1000 or 10 monthly instalments of CI$100 payable by standing order. Essentially this is a ‘crowd fund me’ initiative to raise the necessary capital, to bring Fair Weather home and to set up the educational programs.

For this, each member gets their company/family name or logo stencilled onto one of Fair Weather’s planks or frames. It may or may not be visible due to the interior layout of the ship, but it will be mapped and photographed.

When it becomes time to replace that plank or frame in 20/25 years from now, that piece will be cut out and presented to you, and the new replacement piece will be stencilled with your company/family name/logo again, so that your name/logo, will always be a part of Cayman’s maritime heritage.

• The five year corporate/family membership gets you a 25% discount off all cruises for you and your staff/family and an additional six friends, with priority booking. (Maximum of 10 persons).
• 25% off all merchandise and dock side access above and below deck.
• Once a month for five years, one name will be drawn from the membership list and that person will win a three hour cruise for themselves plus 25 friends.
• If they chose not to avail of the cruise, they can donate it to a on island charity or organisation of their choice, to be used for fund raising purposes.
•   We will also be offering discounts at various vendors outlets throughout Cayman, so essentially you will be able to recoup your initial CI$1000 membership fee over the five years. We are working with fuel merchants, watersports operators, supermarkets, liquor stores, restaurants, and a host of other vendors. This list will continually to be updated throughout the time of your membership, so you will have more opportunity to avail of even more discounts.

The Five Year Corporate/Family Membership won’t actually start until the day the boat arrives into Cayman, which is forecast to be for Pirates Landing 2025, but the discounts will start shortly after you sign up.
