George Town – April 4, 2025
The Cayman Football Club is proud to announce the launch of a new professional standard Football Academy, bringing footballing excellence to the Cayman Islands and providing a pathway to world football.
Led by UEFA A Licensed professional head coach, former England youth international and former Manchester City FC English Premier League player Jason Beckford, the Cayman FC Islanders will start Open Training Sessions in April 2025, with a full-scale Academy Program to launch in September 2025. The Academy will be based out of Geroge Town.
Coach Beckford brings true football pedigree to the Cayman Islands, having developed as a player in the Man City FC youth system and then transitioning into the first team squad for five seasons to represent the club in English Premier League. He also played for Birmingham City FC and Stoke City FC in the English Championship League prior to retirement, due to injury and his transition to coaching and club management. He also has a proven track record of academy coach and player development in community and professional settings, whilst developing players on to higher levels of play and establishing winning cultures in football organizations in the UK and Canada.
Joining Jason Beckford on the technical team is Ali Sozeri, a UEFA B licensed football professional. Coach Ali spent his football and educational development years across Turkey, England, Austria and the US. He continued in the US to play for NCAA Division I Boston University & USL 2 side Boston Rams. Ali brings a wealth of Academy and Professional level coaching and club management experience.
Cayman FC will kick-off training in April, where the club will operate an initial eight-week open training program. This allows the Cayman football community to get a sense of professional training standards and start preparations of Cayman FC inaugural 2025-2026 season, starting in September.
