Rising seas and the lack of a land-use plan

When will a comprehensive land-use plan be implemented for the Cayman Islands?

The islands are exposed to extreme weather. Conflicts re land use, environmental preservation, access to beaches, and beachfront rights to the public are disputed.

Beachfront property has been sold and built upon in these islands and around the world. Sand is disappearing as the oceans rise. It’s too late to prevent people from buying beach front property and building houses and condos on it in Cayman.

Beachfront properties should never have been insured. Beachfronts of sand have always been precious places. Eventually the oceans will claim back the sand and whatever is built upon it.
