Studio54 expands thanks to local support

Barbering and grooming services will be available at second location.

Salon and barbershop Studio54 is expanding to Savannah, following “strong and loyal” community support for the local business.

Owner Katharine Holmes says that since launching the business on West Bay Road in 2017, the response from island residents has been overwhelmingly positive.

“Local support has been the foundation of our success,” she says. “From day one, we’ve been embraced by the community, and that loyalty has fuelled our growth. We’re grateful for every client who has recommended us, supported our events, and trusted us with their personal care.”

The new branch, which is due to open by August, will be called Studio54 Savannah in a nod to its new location at Country Corner shopping plaza, while the original branch name of Studio54 West reflects its site at Galleria Plaza.

Both location names are inspired by Studio 54, a New York theatre and former nightclub, known for style, glamour and unforgettable experiences.

Katharine, who comes from a Caymanian family with a strong business background, firmly believes that shopping locally, and using on-island services, benefits everybody in the Cayman Islands.

“When you support local businesses, you’re investing in the future of your own community,” she says.

“Shopping on-island keeps money circulating locally, supports jobs, and builds stronger connections. It’s about creating a sustainable, self-reliant economy – one haircut, manicure, or shave at a time.”

GIVING BACK

And Katharine believes that loyalty works two ways, giving back as much as she can to the community through her business, often supporting fund-raising events.

This includes the annual ‘Big Shave’ in September to raise money for the St. Baldrick’s Foundation to help conquer childhood cancers, and the yearly ‘Movember’ event in aid of the Cayman Islands Cancer Society, when men are sponsored to grow and groom their moustaches.

“We’ve always believed in giving back,” says Katharine. “Whether it’s participating in charity events, sponsoring local causes, or simply offering a listening ear in the chair, we see ourselves as more than a business – we’re a part of the community fabric. We give back by showing up, supporting others, and contributing where we can.”

MEN IN MIND

The new Savannah location has been designed with men in mind, providing barbering services as well as a dedicated massage and pedicure room to provide a full grooming and self-care experience.

“At Studio54, we believe in more than just grooming – we’re about building confidence, creating connections, and offering an experience that leaves you feeling your best; we can’t wait to welcome you,” says Katharine.

Having grown Studio54 West from scratch, and with no previous experience in the beauty or grooming industry, Katharine is thrilled to be opening the new salon.

“It’s incredibly rewarding,” she says. “Expanding to Savannah is more than just a business move – it’s a personal milestone. It represents growth, resilience, and the trust our clients have placed in us. I’m proud, grateful, and excited for this next chapter.”
