Shiiannte Sterling has graced the international stage at the Miss Teen Mundial pageant, becoming Cayman’s first representative to compete in the pageant, being held in El Salvador this month.
Sterling, 17, took the stage this week during the Mundial Beach Runway fashion show, showcasing floral and swimwear attire. She also had the opportunity to show off her personality and presenting skills in a Electrolit drink commercial.
In a Miss Teen World Cayman Islands newsletter, Sterling said preparations for the competition was “both exciting and challenging in the best ways”.
“I’ve spent a lot of time working on my interview skills to ensure I can express myself confidently and clearly. I’ve also been hitting the gym to stay strong and energized, planning out my wardrobe carefully and working on stage presence. It’s been a full preparation journey … mentally, physically, and emotionally to ensure I represent the Cayman Islands with pride.”
Sterling, the aspiring lawyer, was named the first Miss Teen World Cayman Islands winner back in 2024, when the franchise held three pageants in one night.
When it comes to the international competition, Sterling said she hopes to leave a lasting impression.
“You can definitely expect to see power on that stage. I’m bringing strength, confidence, and a fierce personality. As the first ever Miss Teen Mundial Cayman Islands, I plan to make a lasting impression by showing not just who I am, but the spirit of my country. Expect grace, fire, authenticity, and a true celebration of Caymanian pride,” she noted.
The Miss Teen World organization, under the direction of Pamela Ebanks-Small, told the Compass, “We are very excited to watch Shiiannte take part in Miss Teen Mundial this week as the first representative from the Cayman Islands.
“She is having a fabulous time participating in various events such as photoshoots, fashion shows and challenges. This experience will teach her so much and we are so thankful to all our sponsors and supports for supporting this journey!” Ebanks-Small added.
The Miss Teen Mundial pageant takes place on Saturday, 26 July from 6-10pm, Cayman time, with the preliminary competition being held on Thursday, at 8pm, El Salvador time. The pageant finale can be viewed live on the official Miss Teen Mundial YouTube.
