Two men were detained in an early hours arrest on the weekend for possession of a firearm and a hatchet.
A police spokesperson said the pair, both 30 and alleged to have been masked, were seen behaving suspiciously in the area of George Town’s Selkirk Drive.
They were stopped and searched, and it is alleged that one had a loaded firearm in a bag and that the other was carrying a hatchet.
One of the men is also alleged to be an overstayer of almost four years.
The incident happened on Sunday, 11 Jan.

The spokesperson said both men were being held in custody and that inquiries continued.
