The online publication iNews, which has been publishing local news in the Cayman Islands for nearly 14 years, is urgently seeking a purchaser or a partner its website at ieyenews.com.
According to the publisher, Colin Wilson, if a purchaser cannot be found, all the data from the website will be lost.
In a post on the website titled ‘Final Notice of Ieyenews Closure” on 18 Jan., Wilson wrote, “It is with deep regret that RackSpace, who we have been with since our first publication on April 1, 2012, will not extend to us any more credit and therefore we have had to make the hard decision to cease publication.”
The announcement of the closure follows a post on the website on 14 Jan. from both Colin and Joan Wilson, which said, “Sadly, we are having to say goodbye to you all as it has gotten too much for us to carry on.
“We are both too old and although we get between 5 and 7 million hits per month (mainly from the USA) neither of us have the time and energy to turn all those hits into a moneymaking business for us.”
