Police over the weekend found bar staff and sometimes angry customers breaching the Prevention, Control and Suppression of COVID-19 Regulations that are currently in place, according to an RCIPS press release issued late Tuesday. 

Cayman Islands lawmakers have a busy schedule ahead in the next two weeks, with more than a dozen bills on the table affecting issues such as immigration, traffic rules, when and where liquor can be sold, and employees who report wrongdoing.

Selling alcohol on Sundays and hosting a party with live music on New Year’s Eve, two issues that caused considerable controversy over the past year, are set to be resolved with a pair of legislative amendments.

Government is planning changes to the Liquor Licensing Law to deal with inconsistencies over who can sell beer, wine and spirits on Sundays.

Businesses will be limited to only one type of liquor license per premises under a new policy, restricting the options for gas stations and liquor or convenience stores seeking to sell alcohol on Sundays. The Liquor Board has given businesses with multiple licenses until September to pick which license they want to keep.
