The news is good for movie aficionados.
Plans are in the works to reopen the Cinema at the Marquee Complex by late spring or early summer said company spokesman Rob Imparato.
Like many businesses on Grand Cayman the Cinema was damaged by Hurricane Ivan as winds from the Category 5 storm blew off a portion of the roof. Seats, wall- treatments and flooring will have to be replaced.
‘If we would have had a new roof like most businesses in the Complex, then I don’t believe we would have suffered the damage we did. We are planning to reopen at this time. We are in the process of ordering seats,’ Mr. Imparato said.
‘The Cinema will have a new look but we have not decided what that look will be,’ he said.
Mr. Imparato said the new seats will include cup holders but could not say if they would recline as is the case at most movie theatres in the United States and in Europe.
Mr. Imparato said the Cinema has taken a back seat to other improvements for tenants at the Marquee Complex.
