Veterans get needed assistance

The Governor, Mr. Bruce Dinwiddy, recently presented on behalf of the Royal Commonwealth Ex-Services League a cheque for CI$32,000 to the Cayman Islands Veterans Association.

The assistance has been provided by RCEL to help veterans most in need repair their homes after Hurricane Ivan.

The Cayman Islands Veterans Association is an affiliated member of the Royal Commonwealth Ex-Services League.

RCEL provides welfare support for ex-servicemen and women of Commonwealth countries who have at some time served the British Crown and who are resident outside the United Kingdom. The Royal Commonwealth Ex-Services League was established in 1921 by Field Marshall Haig and General Smutts. The League’s aim is: ‘to ensure no Commonwealth Ex-Service man or woman is without help if in need.’
