The Board of the Cayman Islands Monetary Authority has announced the confirmation of Mr. Malcolm Eden to the post of Deputy Head for its Banking Supervision Division.
Mr. Eden holds an MBA in Finance from the University of Manchester and has almost a decade of experience within banking and finance, having first worked as a bank supervisor for the Financial Services Supervision Department of the Cayman Islands Government. When the Department’s remit fell to the Authority upon its establishment in 1997, Mr. Eden joined the Banking Supervision Division and steadily moved up the ranks to Acting Deputy Head, the position he held until his recent confirmation, states a press release.
Mr. Eden’s responsibilities include exercising oversight of banks, credit unions and money services businesses in accordance with relevant laws and regulations, liasing with representatives from the banking sector, and providing advice and guidance on banking related matters, along with the Division Head, to the Banking Supervision Division and the Board of Directors.
Speaking on behalf of the Board, Managing Director Mrs. Cindy Scotland commented, ‘Mr. Eden’s extensive regulatory background and outstanding work ethic have proven him to be an asset to the Authority, and we are confident that he will continue to perform exceptionally in his new role.’
Remarking on the announcement of his confirmation, Mr. Eden said, ‘I am committed to fulfilling my mandate diligently, and I look forward to continuing to play a key role in maintaining the integrity and soundness of Cayman’s financial industry.’
