Beach clean-up raises funds for tsunami relief

Montessori by the Sea, a Grand Cayman school located on Old Prospect Road, recently donated $2,185 to Cayman Loves Children’s special tsunami victims’ fund. The school’s students, staff and parents raised the money with a sponsored beach clean-up.

School administrator Kourtni Jackson explained that the project was designed to give children the opportunity to help Grand Cayman recover from Hurricane Ivan while also helping others in need far from Cayman. The local/international lesson scored with the kids, said Jackson, as they enthusiastically tackled the litter on various Grand Cayman beaches.

During the months of January and February, .Cayman Loves Children collected funds for victims of the Indian Ocean tsunami. The local group has now resumed its mission of raising awareness and funds for children living in extreme poverty worldwide. The group maintains a website (www.caymanloveschildren.8k.com) that includes statistics and photos. Donations may be mailed to Cayman Loves Children, Box 30383 SMB, Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands.
