Middle school basketball

It was a day to remember as six middle school basketball teams represented their school, battling each other and the sun to see who was the best team in the competition.

As the day drew to the end it was George Hicks A Vs George Hicks B in the finals to see who would come away with the Esso Blazers Trophy.

From the tip off it was all action as both teams scored back and forth trading baskets left and right, but GHB’s Raheem Robinson who took over the scoring hitting a number of lay-ups and a big three pointer to put his team up by 5 with 4 mins left in regulation. Realizing that their chances were getting slim GHA’s fans started to chant ‘Lets go A team, Lets go!’ and they responded with some quick baskets by Chad Scott and a nice reverse lay-up by Javier Powell to tie the game and send it into over time.

In over time both teams went back to their old ways, trading baskets right up until the last 8 seconds when Davion Cottrell put an end to the A team’s run by hitting a 14-foot jump shot to win the championship.
