Johnson earns NAIA honours

Stephen Johnson earned ‘All American’ honours in three events at the NAIA Outdoor National Track and Field Championships at the University of Louisville, Kentucky.

Mr. Johnson and his Lindenwood University 4×100 relay teammates set a record 39.40 seconds to win the event.

His individual efforts gained him second place in the long jump at 24’5 ¼ feet, and fourth in the 200 metre dash, where he clocked 21.24 in the prelims and 21.37 in the final.

Carl and Carlos Morgan of Lindsey Wilson College also competed, as Carl placed 16th in the long jump with a mark of 21′ 6 ¼ feet.

The brothers were also members of the Blue Raiders 4×400 relay squad which finished 18th in a time of 3:20.30.

Omar Wright again raised the Cayman national record in the high jump.

At the NCAA division one Midwest Regional Championships, which were held at the University of Oklahoma, the freshman from Rice University cleared 6′ 11′ .

Although Mr. Wright tied for the 11th spot overall due to misses, only five competitors actually jumped higher than he did.
