New Speaker of the Legislative Assembly Edna Moyle predicted the June meeting of the Legislative Assembly scheduled to start today would be relatively easy.
The work, Mrs. Moyle told the Caymanian Compass on Monday, features legislation concerning the European Union and 60 questions
‘I would like to see the ministers answer as many questions as they can,’ she said.
North Side Member Ms Moyle said she was looking forward to working with MLAs and to receiving the cooperation of all concerned.
‘The responsibility of the speaker is to ensure government business gets done, and also to ensure the opposition has an opportunity to voice their concerns,’ said Ms Moyle.
‘Once I have ruled on a point I am not going to allow members to go back and forth,’ she said.
‘There must be respect for the position of speaker,’ she added.
