Cayman swimming sets high standards

The Cayman Islands National Senior Swimming Team sponsored by Walkers made history at the 2005 Caribbean Swimming Championships (CCCAN) in Santo Domingo, DR.

The Cayman Islands was the only swimming federation that had 100 percent of their team to establish Personal Best (PB) times at the Championships. Adding even more significance to the importance of their accomplishment was Shaune Fraser as he earned the 15-17 Boys High Point Award at CCCAN.

This effectively recognizes Shaune as one of the top swimmers in the world.

National Head Coach Dominic Ross commented, ‘Shaune was our catalyst. His personal performance forced each team members to establish personal bests, and they all stepped up to the challenge. I am very proud of each and every one of them.’

Team Manager Joe Stasiuk added, ‘Our swimmers went above and beyond their prior levels of accomplishment. This was only made possible because of the financial support of Walkers to ensure our athletes were prepared but properly looked after in Santo Domingo. We were also very fortunate the Cable & Wireless services allowed us to keep parents and the media informed real-time. Finally, the support of Cayman Airways made it simple for the team to perform to their utmost ability.’
