CIMA appoints new head

Malcolm Eden has been appointed the new Head of Banking Supervision at the Cayman Islands Monetary Authority.

Mr. Eden, who has served as deputy head since 2003, takes over from Anna McLean, who is leaving after five years to take up a private sector post.

The CIMA Board of Directors approved the appointment at their regular meeting Tuesday. It takes effect today, said a press release from the Authority.

‘I welcome this opportunity to play on a key role in Cayman’s dynamic financial industry,’ Mr. Eden said. ‘I am committed to assisting the Authority in achieving its objectives and look forward to working with all stakeholders to ensure that Cayman’s financial sector remains sound and of the highest integrity.’

Mr. Eden earned his MBA in finance from the University of Manchester and has more than nine years experience in banking supervision and finance. He began his career as a bank supervisor in June 1996 in the then Financial Services Supervision Department after completing his B.Sc. in management and accounting at the University of the West Indies, Mona, Jamaica.
