The National Housing and Community Development board of directors met Wednesday and afterwards announced in a press release that manager Roger Bodden was no longer employed by the Trust.
The Board said it also dealt with other several matters including ongoing management and administration of the Trust as well as developing policies and strategies to help guide the future of affordable housing in Grand Cayman.
No replacement was immediately named for Mr. Bodden.
‘In the interim, the Board will be relying on Housing Ministry staff as well as Trust staff to assist in the day-to-day administrative functions of the Trust,’ a press release stated.
‘In the coming days and weeks, the Trust will be working on an immediate short term ‘map of action’ which will include, among other things, improving collections, reviewing contracts, reviewing leases/agreements with clients, as well as preparing annual financial statements. Much of the work is on the heels of the Auditor General’s findings and recommendations.
Board chairman Leonard N. Ebanks stated: ‘This Board of Directors is comprised of a group of professional individuals who take their responsibilities seriously.
‘While we are faced with a series of serious and difficult decisions, we will not shy away from them.
‘In addition to assisting the people of Grand Cayman ensure that they are housed affordably, we are duty-bound to ensure that we do so in a fiscally responsible and transparent manner.’
