Lions name ‘Senior Sweethearts’

The Lions Club of Tropical Gardens recently announced the winners of both its Grand Cayman and Cayman Brac Senior Sweetheart competitions.

The Cayman Brac announcements took place on 29 September at a function organized by Social Services in the Brac.

Lion Mark Tibbetts, President of the Cayman Brac Lions Club, represented the Tropical Gardens Club at this function and read a message on behalf of Tropical Gardens President Norma McField.

In her message, Ms McField said, ‘The Lions Club of Tropical Gardens has long recognized the importance of our senior statesmen and women; individuals who have served their respective communities in many capacities. Individuals who have shown their strength, perseverance and resilience by overcoming adversity; using their talent, time and labour to achieve for others; turning negative experiences into to positive ones. The development of our islands is in large part a reflection of the dedication of these seniors.’

Mr. Trenwick Brown, Ms Allimae Ebanks, Mrs. Hilliary E. ‘Marjorie’ Tibbetts, Ms Naomi Walton and Ms Faith Tatum were amongst the Cayman Brac seniors honoured by the Lions Club in this competition, which saw Mr. Brown and Ms Walton, both 73 years old, emerging as the male and female 2005 Senior Sweethearts.
