Cayman’s runners turn out for UN event

A small, but enthusiastic, group of runners and walkers showed disdain for the damp and windy waterfront conditions as they gathered recently to celebrate United Nations Day. An alternate course which proved to closer in length to three miles than two, did not deter the participants, who thus were more anxious to sample the post-event refreshments provided by Breezes By The Bay.

Overall awards and random prizes compliments Of Island Companies and Cobalt Coast Resort gladdened the hearts of all recipients.

Representatives from a dozen countries including the Cayman Islands took part, and some displayed great ingenuity and creativity in their costumes.

Entrants from the United States, Canada, St.Lucia, England , Scotland, Ireland, Jersey, Isle of Man, Austria, and the Netherlands all made appearances.

First to complete the course was David Walker, who was followed by Derek Larner.

Among the ladies, it was Florence Bernard in the forefront, with Maria Leonce as runnerup.
