Rotary Sunrise stamps deal

Rotary Sunrise member Phil Thomas worked in conjunction with the Cayman Post Master General to produce a set of Cayman Islands First Day Covers that celebrated the 100 years of Rotary International and the work that Rotary international had done to eradicate polio worldwide.

Cayman Islands stamps, and especially first day covers are eagerly collected worldwide, and the unique Rotary First Day covers, which are a limited edition of 250, are signed by the Governor Mr. Bruce Dinwiddy who is a Rotarian, as well as served as the president of the four Rotary Clubs of the Cayman Islands.

Due to the limited edition of 250, this first day cover will become very valuable and makes for a unique gift for family or the office.

To mark the departure of the Governor and Mrs. Dinwiddy to retirement, Rotary Sunrise presented a framed first day cover to Mr. Dinwiddy at the Sunrise breakfast meeting on 26 October.

Emma Dinwiddy is an honorary member of Sunrise Rotary Club, the newest Rotary Club in the Cayman Islands, with 65 members, mostly young professionals from Cayman, and 14 other countries, who meet every Wednesday for breakfast at Grand Old House.

A few framed copies of the signed Rotary First day Cover are still available at CI$ 125 for a framed edition or CI $100 unframed from Rotarian Phil Thomas at 926-0290 or by e mail at [email protected].

All proceeds raised are for the Rotary Hurricane Relief effort.
