The Cayman Islands Cancer Society is selling cards and ornaments for Christmas.
The cards, which cost $5 for a pack of 20, depict a stained glass window with the words ‘Happy Holidays’ written inside. The hand-painted glass tree ornaments are selling for $20 each, according to CICS office manager Joanne Diaz-Berry.
‘The inside-painted glass ornament ball is a unique gift for this holiday season and is a keepsake to be treasured from generation to generation,’ she said.
Mrs. Diaz-Berry explained how the ornaments are made.
‘The artist, choosing from a selection of miniature curved and bent-shafted brushes, hand paints every minute detail on the inside of the hand-blown glass ornament so no two pieces are ever identical.
‘The ornament features a Cayman-style home, with windows and doors trimmed in pink, and also features the society’s periwinkle logo,’ she said.
The cancer society is a non-profit organisation financed almost entirely though voluntary contributions; it receives no government funding, she explained.
Mrs. Diaz-Berry is asking people to think of the cancer society this Christmas.
‘Discover how you can make this festive season very special when you touch the lives of the less fortunate, and bring cheer to your loved ones at the same time.
‘Show your customers, colleagues and friends that you are helping others this Christmas by supporting the fight against cancer,’ she said.
The cards and ornaments are available for sale at the cancer society’s office on Maple Road, from 8am to 5.30pm, Monday to Friday. For more information, contact Joanne Diaz-Berry at 949-7618.
