Cayman track season set for Saturday start

The Cayman Islands Athletic Association has announced that the local track and field Season will kick off with the staging of the Annual Truman Bodden Meet at the Sports Complex on Saturday 14th January 2006 commencing at 9:00am. Competitors are required to present themselves at the track no later than 8:30am on the date of the Meet, which will see competition in Long Jump, Shot Put, Triple Jump, Discus Throw, Javelin Throw, 3,000m, 100m, 800m, 400m, 1500m and 200m for age groups 10-13; 14-16; 17-19 and Open categories for both male and female competitors.

Registration Forms can be collected at the offices of the Cayman Islands Athletic Association at the Sports Complex or from Coaches Williams, Yen and Harper. Forms will also be made available at all Schools on the Island and must all be returned to the offices of the CIAA no later than 6:00pm on Friday 13th January 2006. There is no entry fee for participating in the Meet.

The Association requests the attendance of all the members of its Technical Committee at the Meet and would ask that they assemble at 8:00am on the day of the Meet outside the VIP Lounge of the Complex. The 2006 calendar will continue later that evening with the staging of the Second Annual Awards Ceremony at which presentations will be made to members of the various National teams in 2005, including a special honoring of the achievements of Olympian Cydonie Mothersill by the Association.
