Cayman’s top female track athlete Cydonie Mothersill is to be honoured at the annual awards ceremony of the CIAA. A special presentation to the country’s best female runner ever will be the highlight of the invitation only ceremony held by the Cayman Islands Athletic Association on 14 January.
The event – to be staged on the football field at the Truman Bodden Sports Complex – is scheduled to start at 7.30pm.
Mothersill, competing in the 200 metres, has forced her way into the ranks of the world’s top sprinters.
The 27-year-old has figured in the Olympic and Commonwealth Games took eighth place in last year’s World Championships.
The awards ceremony will pay tribute to ‘the rarely recognised and heralded achievements of our top female athlete for the past decade,’ said CIAA president H. Delroy Murray.
‘The event will also be used to present an appeal to the private sector to become quadrennial sponsors of our programmes and athletes between each Olympiad,’ he said.
