The scheduled 12-week programme included academic sessions, confined and open water dives to meet the required standard for PADI certification.

The course run annually by Red Sail Sports is aimed at promoting diving to Cayman’s youth, which may in the future help them to pursue a career in the Cayman Island dive/water sports industry.

With a high number of students wishing to participate in the programme this year, Sunset House Divers, supplied the use of their pool facilities, tanks, weights and dive location to facilitate the confined water training and open water dives.

James Dudley, director of Training at Red Sail Sports, praised the high level of commitment that the students showed throughout their training, and added that several of the students had overcome difficulties to complete the program and that it had indeed been a pleasure to reward each student with certification.
