The Wendy’s Lady Heels are just one victory away from capturing the FirstCaribbean Bank Women’s League Big Four Tournament Title after defeating the Ladies of Financial Integrated Services 55 – 45.
Although both teams got off to a slow start, it was the Lady Heels that began to pull ahead and their zone defence was proving to be too much for FIS and Wendy’s went into the second half with an 11 point lead.
But FIS came out for blood in the second half and quickly relinquished the Lady Heels Lead to only two points mid way through the 4th quarter Behind Cindy Loadman, Lavern Ebanks and Sophia Foster and Lashawn Davis. But the chemistry of Wendys’ Dionne O’Garro, Benieca Thompson, Kamilla Nagy, Robyn Sanderson and Mesha Gordon was one too many for FIS and with proper clock management, the lady heels used as much time on offense as possible and made free throws to seal the game.
The Lady Heels out rebounded FIS 52 – 41 and had 25 offensive rebounds. FIS’ 22 turnover also proved costly as the Lady Heels wasted no time in capitalizing on them.
For FIS Lashawn Davis had her best performance of the season with 8 points, 8 rebounds, 4 steals and 1 block; Sophia Foster had 13 points, 4 steals and 9 rebounds while Cindy Loadman added 13 points, 8 rebounds, 2 steals and 1 block.
For the Lady Heels Dionne O’Garro Led the way with 21 points, 13 rebounds, 2 steals and 3 blocks while Benieca Thompson added 13 points, 13 rebounds and 2 steals; Kamilla Nagy had 12 points, 10 rebounds and 2 steals.
