The Chamber of Commerce’s Business After Hours event was hosted by Animal House on Thursday, 23 March.
Animal House, which opened in November 2001 at Alissta Towers, recently moved to a 4,000 square-foot purpose-built site on North Sound Road.
Owner Barry Bodden said he got the idea to open the pet store many years ago.
‘The concept of Animal House was simply to provide a level of service to pet owners on the island that was not available here before, and [was] comparable to what would be found in the United States,’ he said.
‘Based on the response that we have had since we first opened in 2001, I believe that we have succeeded in this area and our new facilities will allow us to serve our customers even better by providing a larger selection of merchandise and a more pleasant shopping experience.’
Animal House now has about 5,000 items on the shelves, which amounts to one of the highest items-per-square-foot ratios for retailers on the island, said Chamber of Commerce president Morgan DaCosta.
Refreshments and canapés were served during the event, and prizes were drawn at the end, with attendees winning gift certificates for Chicken! Chicken!, Creative Tech, Café del Sol and Animal House. The grand prize was a Cayman Airways ticket to any of its destinations.
