A 5-K walk/run is set for Saturday, 8 April, in support of a new taskforce on sexual harassment and stalking.
Coinciding with Sexual Assault Awareness Month, the Protect Cayman 5-K Walk/Run is being organized by the Young Business and Professional Women’s Club.
The event takes place at Calico Jacks (Public Beach), starting at 6.30am for runners and 6.45am for walkers. The registration fee is CI$15.
The YBPW launched a taskforce in July 2005 to research and assess the problems of sexual harassment and stalking in the Cayman Islands, said a press release. The goal is to produce legislative recommendations that will protect male and female victims of sexual harassment and stalking.
All proceeds from the fundraising efforts will go to the operating expenses of the taskforce, with the remainder to be given to a charity or resource organization to help victims of sexual harassment and stalking.
