Michael Letterlough turned in an elite performance at the Miami Elite Invitational track meet at Hurricane campus in Coral Gables Florida.
Letterlough, a senior at Florida International University, upped his school and Cayman national record in the hammer throw to 55.99 meters, or
183 feet 8 inches, as he took third place in the event.
With this mark, he attained the qualifying distance for the NCAA Division I Regional Championships in Greensboro, North Carolina later this season.
Michael also competed in the discus throw at Miami, with a best toss of
42.06 meters, or 138 feet.
Golden Panther teammate Ronal Forbes placed eighth in the men’s 110 meter hurdles with a mark of 14.41 seconds, but unfortunately was not able to complete the 400 meter hurdle event.
Out west in Houston, Omar Wright of Rice University continued his superlative activity in the men’s high jump,competing at the Texas Southern Invitational.
Omar’s clearance of 2.05 meters, or 6 feet 8 and three-quarters inches, was good for second overall, and was the best mark of all collegians in the event.
